It'll indulge anyone still misty-eyed with nostalgia for the original, and thrill anyone who's under eight. Kylie and Robbie are there to appeal to the kiddies while their elders lend gravitas to the proceedings and reassure the parental generation. Doogal - Saving the World Lucky for Doogal and his friends, Zebedee, the , quickly appears to fill them in on what's just gone down. But Robbie Williams's cheeky and charming performance as Doogal is the nicest surprise. Called 'The Magic Roundabout' this animation was a favourite of many people over the years it was shown. The music is quite good, the ending theme song is a Kylie Minogue song that I have never heard of! Zeebad imprisons Doogal's girl, Florence Kylie Minogue , along with some other children, recruits a wooden soldier, Sam Bill Hader , as his sidekick, and sets off to find the magic diamonds that will grant him unending power.
Also it is a little too short so while the characters still maintain their simple charm, they weren't developed properly. The world is placed in mortal danger as Zeebad wants to freeze everything there is; Dougal and his friends must recover three diamonds in order to stop him. The songs are nothing special and not as catchy or charming as the original tune but they fitted in just fine. However, Ermintrude, Brian, Dylan, and finally Dougal refuse to give up, and intervene to stop Zeebad; getting past Zeebad's attacks to the diamonds, and getting each of them one-by-one into their places on the roundabout until only the third diamond is left. Well I came in with few expectations hoping to be surprised but in the end unfortunately I was not.
Can they save Dougal, find the diamonds, stop Zeebad, and get home in time for bed? Okay, so the plot might as well have been from a computer game and it is all a bit far removed from the genteel original but it's just mad to see Dougal and crew trekking over fiery volcanoes, jungle temples and snow-capped mountains. I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this slight bit of nonsense, maybe it was sheer nostalgia but then my son Luke loved it too which I wasn't expecting. But still, it's not all great. Just keep die hards and cynics at bay! With Florence and her friends trapped in the frozen roundabout, Dougal, Brian, Ermintrude and Dylan set out to uncover the diamonds first and return things to normal. And Dylan was brilliant too - Bill Nighy was just the right choice. There was I, a 21 year old woman, watching this movie on my own.
The writers, meanwhile, have kept in some of the adult humour; at one point, Dylan wisely advises Dougal to lay off the sugar, as once you have one iced bun it's hard not to eat the whole box. It was as long as the new movie, but it still looked and felt like the real McCoy! The world is placed in mortal danger as Zeebad wants to freeze everything there is; Dougal and his friends must recover three diamonds in order to stop him. Dillon the Hippy Rabit, played by Bill Nighy, who with Dougal and the rest of the cast have to save the day. Okay, so the plot might as well have been from a computer game and it is all a bit far removed from the genteel original but it's just mad to see Dougal and crew trekking over fiery volcanoes, jungle temples and snow-capped mountains. The positives include the animation being fluid on the whole despite the jerky movements on the blue mousse towards the end; most of the characters staying true to the style of those from the original series albeit the detailed lip sync, expressions and facial features; the backgrounds having more colour and definition than those in the original series; the basic premise of Brian, Ermintrude, Dylan and Dougal going on a quest to retrieve diamonds in order to get the roundabout to work again; the dialogue having its witty moments; the voice cast and the soundtrack. The movie will run out as you expect and if like me you will find yourself wondering why the cast and characters where wasted.
Dougal is still a sugar addict and in his desperate search for sweets smashes into The Magic Roundabout on a tricycle. Zeebad, after having abandoned Sam the Soldier to die wounded in the snow, beats the gang to the now-frozen village, but is unable to find the third diamond anywhere. The film is preceded by a short, Gopher Broke, in which a gopher tries to pick up vegetables dropped of passing pickup trucks, only to have every tidbit stolen by other creatures squirrel, chickens, crows and also be run down by trucks, smacked by a road sign, and smashed by a falling cow. Joanna Lumley was good as Ermintrude, the opera singing cow. Ermintrude and Dougal Zeebad needs the One Ring, I mean, the three magic diamonds to secure his frozen future.
The villain of the piece is clearly Zeebad the Bad voiced by former Dr Who Tom Baker. The cinema was full of kids and I was really embarrassed! Doogal - Winter Wipeouts For the most part, Doogal is a light-hearted film with lots of. Brian the snail dodges the arrows and spears, not through derring-do but simply by being low and slow.
